The West Coast Wind Quintet was formed in 2012, and is a group of five passionate and talented young musicians who are dedicated to performing and promoting wind quintet music.  They are committed to expanding the quintet repertoire by working with living composers, as well as performing standard and rarely performed works.  The quintet has commissioned and premiered many new works, including several pieces by Ron Levy. The WCWQ has appeared on the Classics at the Merc recital series in Temecula, CA, the Rancho Bernardo Library, the Music Guild series at Church of the Epiphany in Oak Park, CA, and many others.

In 2013, the WCWQ was named a Finalist in the San Diego Chamber Music Competition. The quintet has also been featured on NPR’s “All Things Considered” and in The San Diego Union-Tribune.   The quintet’s members have all performed with some of the leading orchestras in Southern California, including the San Diego Symphony, LA Philharmonic, and LA Opera. The quintet has a strong commitment to education, and they regularly give workshops and masterclasses for young musicians.  They are committed to providing high-quality performances that are both entertaining and educational.  The WCWQ is excited to continue sharing their love of wind quintet music with audiences around the Southern California.
