Kristin Morrison, horn

A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Kristin’s formal studies started at Duquesne University under the tutelage of Ron Schneider. As a student, Kristin enjoyed being a member of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony and the Brass Quintet in Residence at the Three Rivers Arts Festival. After moving to Chicago, IL, to finish her studies at DePaul University with Ethel Merker, Kristin freelanced in the greater Chicago area and enjoyed being a member of the Classical Symphony of Chicago and playing “off Broadway” with The New
Tuners Theater Group. Upon moving to Bakersfield, CA, Kristin became a member of the Bakersfield Symphony, the Musica da Camera, and the Mozart Festival Chamber Orchestra. As a pedagogue in Bakersfield, Kristin developed a large studio with students regularly garnering Excellent ratings and Command Performances at the Solo/Ensemble competitions, she coached the Bakersfield Youth Symphony brass section and was an adjunct professor at Bakersfield College as a woodwind quintet instructor. After moving to the Los Angeles area, Kristin’s freelance work included studio projects such as the trailer for James Bond “Spector”, “Safe House” with Patrick Steward, “The Walter Winchell Story” for HBO, the opening video montage for the Michael Jackson “HiStory” tour, playing for the South Bay Civic Light Opera and performing excerpts from Phantom of the Opera with Michael Crawford and Dale Kristien. Going on tour with Yanni was a fun highlight and Kristin can be heard on both “Ethnicity” and “Yanni Live, the concert event” cd’s. The Hollywood Film Orchestra took Kristin all over China and the Varna International Music Festival had Kristin traveling to Germany, Poland, The Czech Republic, Austria, and Italy. Kristin currently holds the Principal Horn position with the Desert Symphony and enjoys being a long-time member of South Coast Symphony, Peninsula Symphony, San Bernardino Symphony, Culver City Symphony, the Oregon Coast Music Festival, and has performed with the Long Beach Symphony and Pacific Symphony. Kristin is very excited to be a member of the West Coast Woodwind Quintet and playing fabulous new music with her amazingly talented colleagues.
